labor day frisbee

I was alive today. Euphoria: racing after the disc for the point, gaining on it, reaching out, fingers grasping the rim...

Also: disc floating into the endzone, almost rustling the slender grass blades already, a whisker's breadth away from grasp; then a dive, a roll - man and disc tumble, spectators gasp with anticipation - and a hand victoriously stabs upwards, clutching tight the disc.

Of course, the roll was unecessary. But satisfying.

It's been absolutely fantastic! The weather was fine, the field was perfect, and frisbee lovers from all over came out of the woodwork to once again celebrate our mutual love for the sport and for public holidays =). Taylor's played extraordinarily well, and there were many excellent passes. We actually trounced all the other teams, for once! Sheer joy. With the pro player team disbanded and their remains scattered into other teams, Taylor's had the extra edge needed to overcome our longtime enemies (in a manner of speaking), Inti Nilai and Catholic High (lost to Inti and tied with CHS in the last tourney!). We also beat Help, in the finals. Victory is sweeet. But knowing you played well is priceless.

Ah. And I have a slice of Chocolate Indulgence waiting for me in the 'fridge. Utter bliss~~

Almost, but for the fact that, as Charlie Brown said, "Nothing takes the taste out of peanut butter quite like unrequited love." Cake, too, you know. But today was close enough to perfect for me to be content =). I could ask for no more.
