Kenya??

Transcript of a conversation at work* yesterday:
Customer: "Thanks again for your help
Me: "No problem."
Customer: "Are you graduating next year?"
Me: [thinking: huh?] "Um, no... I'm a freshman."
C: "That's a pity, because I was going to offer you a job."
Me: [huh?^2] "Really? Where?"
C: "Kenya. We really need good IT people there."
Me: [oh-kay... Kenya??] *stunned silence*

Regardless of the oddness of the offer, it was still cool, and proof that my job is cool =).

*-I work at the Cornell Store, electronics section. Tasks include sales/register/misc. Very nice =).

first snow

It finally snowed today, a month after the first predicted snowfall ><. Still way too early in the year for snow, me thinks, but then, it's November already.

It was exciting for the first 5 minutes or so, seeing it come down like thick rain (wasn't a heavy snowfall though), and then it got kinda crappy. It landed on my black jacket and basically left small white clumps on it. It got into my eye and froze my hands. It's something best enjoyed from inside, methinks =).

Anyway, things are going well, life is good. It's not easy to distill the essence of it, so I'll just leave it at, the good things of life... friends, beautiful scenery, good food, and stuff like that.

I've been meaning to write about this picture, too: It was a tipi (get it? maybe not... I'm known as TP around here, it's easier on people) my friends made for me before they all left for fall break. They also kindly left me some food so I wouldn't starve, what with the dining halls closed. They gave a bag of chips, Reese's, some energy drink, and chocolate. One remarked later, maybe we shouldn't have given only junk food... It was really thoughtful of them =)

It's cool when you finally find a group of friends that you're comfortable with, because then you truly begin to settle in. Everything's coming along pretty well now =).

Lastly, my new hobby: online shopping! It's sooo convenient over here... click click click purchased! And you get a nice package in the mail =). I've bought, so far, some textbooks, a scarf/hat thingy, my molecular model kit (which I hardly use ><), and my reallly nice Columbia jacket. It's so easy to find bargains online =P. The jacket in question was 50% off =D, and I'm sorely tempted to buy stuff at Timberland.com since there's this 40% off thing going on right now if you know the coupon code. Wooo. I'm becoming a closet Internet shopaholic =p
