KLPAC

Apparently, Actor's Studio has acquired a new place, the KL Performing Arts Centre. Despite my midterms being tomorrow, my mom still dragged me there... Here are the photos.

Greenwater Tree

This is a tree. In sick green toxic-looking water. If only the water was actually blue, it'd be a lot more scenic. Now it just looks sick. And I keep thinking 'eutrophication' and 'algae bloom'... been studying too hard for Chem =).

Wall

This is a wall. With holes. Apparently they didn't demolish the building that was there, some rail company's place. They just made some... modifications. The landscapers were the same ones that did my garden ^^. Sort of. The guy did it for my mom as a favour.

Inside

This is part of the interior, leading to the, erm, toilets. It still looks impressive though. Stark.

Door

This is a door. No idea where it goes to though. Also stark.

Guy 1

Guy 2

These look like buskers. Probably not, but they were rather entertaining all the same. The guy in top picture would hand out these orang-asli kind instruments to people in the crowd and get them to play along.

But suddenly...

Crowd

Something caught the eye of the crowd that had gathered...

!!

WHAT THE DEVIL IS THAT??? Crop crop zoom...

Freaky

Freaky... Waaay freaky. if these guys showed up on your doorstep at night you'd call the cops. Or the Ghostbusters. They went on to do some weird dance involving high-heeled shoes and a maze of string. Freakier and freakier.

Some explanation is in order, I suppose. One that doesn't involve complicated CAT scans and funky neurological jargon. The following is from this sign I saw:

"Fancy watching a few topless men cavorting in high heels?
...
Entitled The Phoenix Rises, this site-specific work is a landscape installation by the entrance to the complex, spice it up with the landmark curious humour, informality, and interaction that nyobadance has become known for, and what you get is a recipe for a visually stunning work that is also a delight for the senses."

Urm... To the first question, no, not in a million years. 'Curious' here is probably a synonym for weird. Or perverse. 'Stunning' is correct (if you think of tasers and sharp objects lying on the floor at night) but delight is not. And what in the world is nyobadance?? Google turned up 3 results, none of which explained what it meant. I guess I'm not cut out for refined culture.

Last pic...

Sign

I've not done my undang for driving but I doubt this is your standard issue traffic sign. What's it mean, anyway? Nothing is forbidden, therefore everything is permitted? Weirdo dancing albinos with bad red hair seem to prove that.

Anyway... exams tomorrow >_<. Wish me luck =).

'Nite.
